Mentorship instills hope + optimism while building confidence and showing girls + young women that loss is survivable.

Originally founded in 2013 by Boston native Cara Belvin, empowerHER UK is a one-of-a-kind organisation that offers one-on-one support and is available for girls + young women through age 24.

If you know + love a girl who has experienced the loss of a mother and could benefit from an empowerHER UK Mentor, please click button below to enroll her in our program.

Our Mentors empower each girl to find their voice, and to see that this beautiful life still holds joy. If you are interested in serving as an empowerHER Mentor in the UK, please click the box below.

Who Are Mentors?

empowerHER UK Mentors are positive role models age 25+ who have also experienced the loss of their mother. Mentor meetups can take place in-person or virtually around milestone moments such as holidays, back-to-school shopping, mum’s anniversary or birthdays, and more; while always respecting the family’s needs and preferences. Mentors are volunteers, non-therapeutic, and simply serve as a supportive person in the life of the child who can understand the complexity of her grief.

It’s A Match!

Matches may consider geographical proximity so that in-person meetups are possible. The frequency and duration of communication and meetups are flexible and are discussed with each family during the matching process. When geographically close, meetups can include a walk, ice cream, or attending an empowerHER UK EVENT in your area.

Safe + Responsible Screening

At empowerHER UK, the safety and well-being of each girl is our top priority. Our MENTOR PROGRAM follows best practices in screening, training, and monitoring guidelines for each prospective Mentor.

If you should have any further questions about our MENTOR PROGRAM, please contact our Director of Programs, Ali Thomas, at alison@empoweringher.org.
